Visit WV
Livestock:
Let's start with a goat.....yes....a goat. If you are traveling south on route 19 you might see a goat on the side of a mountain. The Powell's Mountain Goat is female and belonged to someone and it escaped and has been living on the side of the mountain for years. Random I know; but, it is quite popular around here. It has its own Facebook page. Check it out.
Coolest small town:
Fayetteville and Lewisburg have been both named "Coolest Smallest Town in America" and while Fayetteville is the current reigning Lewisburg still has some cool things going for it. So checking out both these small towns would be cool. I wrote a post about Fayetteville already. Check it out.
The middle of nowhere:
Greenbank- wanna live with no cell service? Here is the place for you. It's illegal. You can tour this place.
Bear Run Road:- love the film "Wrong Turn"? Well apparently it was set here.
Food:
Poky Dot: Fairmont, WV. - The restaurant has a fun vibe but the portion sizes are insane. Either bring a friend or a huge appetite. (Maybe your appetite is your friend. I'm not one to judge!)
Tudor's Biscuit World: Now an outside WV chain, it starred here and remained only here for years. This place has not only great biscuits; but, it also has great daily specials.
Resorts:
Greenbrier: Definitely the nicest resort in the state and one of the nicest in the world. This 'Diamond resort winner recipient is set in the middle of nowhere basically and is beautiful. It's not cheap; however, they do run specials from time to time.
Snowshoe: This place may be a ski resort; however, it is beautiful in the summer as well. They often have festivals in the summer.
State parks/Campgrounds:
Lets start with Grandview. Grandview not only has a 'grand view'; but, it has a live theatre in the summer. Theatre WV puts on plays such as "Beauty and the Beast" or "Grease" as well as ones about WV History. So it's a cool place to visit.
Audra State Park, near Buckhannon, is a beautiful little place to have a picnic and take a swim!
Camp Splinter- Richwood, WV- there are two cabins, a river, a fire pit and a place to play horseshoes. What more do you want? It's a nice place for a reunion or a weekend getaway.
Visit WV in the summer. Don't come in the winter since most things are outside, there is really nothing much to do! I mean snow covered mountains are beautiful; but, I can just send ya a picture!
