My 2 Cents: A 60 Day Blogging Journey (32/60): Never Say Never!
So here I am taking a forced break from work: the cornona virus outbreak of 2020. I like working so here I am making blogging my temporary job.
In high school, I started writing for the teen section of The Charleston Gazette. (entitled Flipside) Some people may not consider this a job; but I do, we had to write 2 articles a month. Which isn't a lot; but, it was enough with going to school and for being the first time I ever worked. I wrote for them two years almost exactly. (Since then I have written two alum articles for them.) I wrote "American Idol" column for two years. I wrote mostly reviews; however, I did write some other stuff throughout my two years. I learned a lot about deadlines and how to write papers quickly which helped me in college. I appreciate Amy for giving me the opportunity at my first job.
I have had many jobs I have cleaned tables and washed dishes. I have worked at Disney (already wrote about that, if you haven't read that blog check it out, it's my first one.) I have worked as in home health aide, a preschool sub, a cashier and a work study in an office. I did national service 4 summers in a row with AmeriCorps and let's not forget teaching. (I blogged about teaching as well, check it out!) Yes, one might say "That's an awful lot of jobs"; but, I have learned something from all of them. Working is a learning experience and I've learned a lot from every job!
My favorite "retired" show at Disney World was called "Dream Along with Mickey". It focused on the power of dreams and the idea that "Dreams Come True." If I could sum up my life in a phrase it would be "Never Comes True" Yes, my life has come with lots of nerves. I never thought I'd work at Wal-Mart. Well I did for 6 months. I never thought I'd be a PE teacher. Every afternoon for 1 school year, I was. (I did Special Ed in the morning!) But I learned from these things, so its okay!
My advice is to embrace "never." Maybe you'll end up loving it! Just like Disney retired one of my favorite shows, I think it's time for all of us to "retire" the word "never". My goal for you sometime in the next year, take a break. You deserve it.
Comment below with your "never" moments and did you end up enjoying it? As always feel free to like and share!
