Walt Disney World Turns 50!
Walt Disney once used the phrase “Keep moving forward!” when describing his vision for his company. Disney is constantly trying new things and pushing boundaries to do just that. Oct 1st, 2021 Walt Disney World turned 50. The celebration is a little different than expected because of Covid; however, the last 18 months has been a time where we must keep moving forward and sometimes we have no idea how to do that. We have to trust it will all come out in the wash. It’s been a big 18 months for me and probably you too.
In late 2019/early 2020 I felt
like something new was coming and I knew it was
something work related. I thought “Maybe I need to look for new job
opportunities.” I did have some job interviews and nothing came to fruition. I
got very discouraged; but, tried to keep chugging along and keep my spirits up.
Move forward to March 2020 when
Walt Disney World shut down I was naive I assumed we would be opened in 2
weeks. Then we weren’t. That’s when I got nervous. When I had time to step
back and think I thought maybe it wasn’t a new job maybe what I was supposed to
be prepared for was a break. I think without this preparation I don’t think I
would’ve handled it as well or calmly.
When I was little I wanted to grow up and work
for Walt Disney World. That dream came to a screeching halt for about 3 or 4
months. It was a totally weird moment in life. I’m sure most of you can relate
when the whole world was in lock-down.
During the shutdown I spent 5 weeks in West Virginia, with my family. I do not want you to think I am complaining about being off work for 3 or 4 months. There were many positives. I will not lie. I got to blog a lot, I did puzzles, and I went on several walks. I found many ways to keep myself occupied. In July I came back to work, it was different but I was glad to be back.
Then, early 2021 I was selected to be a coordinator. I then got to train a manager who had been off work for over a year. I won an award. I also got to help facilitate and plan a safety event as well as help interview people for new trainers. I was approved for a promotion (it hasn’t happened yet but I’m on the list.) I have also worked on many other small projects at work. This Christmas season I will also be a part of the choir at EPCOT. I am proud of myself auditioning because I have put it off in the past. I'm happy to be apart of the 50th celebration.
It has not been a perfect year;
however, it has been good. Life will never be perfect; but, I try to be grateful
for the good stuff! I know some of my
readers aren’t religious, and I would never want to tell you what to do. I
trust in Jesus to guide my steps and I believe Jesus prepared me for the closure cause I knew in my soul things were gonna change. Whatever your support system, I hope it’s a good one.
Don’t forget “Keep Moving Forward!” As always feel free to like, share and comment!
