Highlighting the Career of Adam Sandler

Recently a poll said Gen Z’s favorite actor was Adam Sandler, so I thought let me do a feature on his career. I think we can all agree Adam Sandler has some hilarious fun movies and I think we will all agree he has some flops. He also writes scripts and produces and we will discuss that. So, let’s go!

Let’s start with the worst.  Punch Drunk Love- What am I watching? Is it over yet? It’s not even funny. Eww. Stop. These were thoughts I had upon watching.

Now let’s discuss movies that he produced but did not star in. There are several hits. “Joe Dirt”, “Paul Blart” “The House Bunny” “The Master of Disguise”, “Dickie Roberts” all successful movies. “The House Bunny” is one of my all-time favorite comedies.

There were some films that he both produced and stared in. ‘Anger Management”, “The Longest Yard” “Mr. Deeds” “Blended” “Hotel Transylvania” “Grown Ups 2” among others. I think all these movies are good.

Adam Sandler also has been a screenwriter for many movies. His first ever project “Going Overboard” he acted in and wrote the script. It’s kind of simple and low budget but it’s fun. Far from groundbreaking in any sense of the word but it was his first project so you can’t be too harsh. His next 2 projects where he stared and wrote were “Billy Madison” and “Happy Gilmore” much better. I think we could say he learned a lot from his first script and more from the 2nd because Happy is arguably one of his best.

Now let’s look at the last category I want to highlight where we starred, produced and wrote. “The Waterboy” “Little Nicky” “Eight Crazy Nights” “Grown-ups” and my favorite “Big Daddy” (even my grandma liked the last one!)

Don’t forget his Netflix era. The Cobbler is a nice story and Hustle may be his best in years. And of course who can forget SNL’s Opera Man?

My top Adam Sandler movies: (I will count anything he has worked on):

10 The Hot Chick- He was only in two scenes I believe but it’s a fun movie and he produced it.

9 Hotel Transylvania- This series is just fun and I’m glad Adam decided to be a part of this.

8 Billy Madison (That Veronica Vaughn) This movie is stupid but fun. “Conditioner is better!”

7 Grown Ups- The cast is perfect and really make it a fun time.

6 The Waterboy – The story of this underdog and his overbearing Mom is endearing.

5 Hustle – Possibly one of the best original Netflix films ever.

4 The Wedding Singer – Easily the best rom-com from Adam and his character gets paid in meatballs.

3 Happy Gilmore- Fans often say this is his best. It is good.

2 The House Bunny- Even though he didn’t star in it and I rewatch this a lot.

1 Big Daddy- Classic. I don’t think Adam will ever top this movie.
