The Year of the 4!

 Hollywood sequels are taking the box office by storm this year! To date (7/14/24) 8 of the top 10 films are sequels. But what's more interesting to me. 4 of those 8 are #4 in their series. So I'm here to talk about those ones specifically! 

4 of the top 10 grossing films of 2024 thus far are 4th in the series. Earlier this year we had 'Kung Fu Panda 4' and 'Ghostbusters 4'. This week I saw "Despicable Me 4" and "Bad Boys 4." I'm here to rank all 4 series. 

Kung Fu Panda series

4th- #3 

3rd- #2 

2nd- #1 

1st- #4

Note: I liked all but #3. 

Ghostbusters series (including remake)

5th- #2 

4th - Female remake 

3rd- #4 

2nd - #1 

1st- #3 

Note: I only really like #1 and #3. 

Despicable Me series (including spin off)

6th- Minion #1 

5th- DM #4 

4th- Minion #2

Will 2025 be the year of the 5? Personally I think we are coming to a Turning point in cinema. I think films are going to be smaller budget because cinema has not done as well after covid.
